Sutherland Nursery
We aim to provide an exciting range of plants that produce delicious food and are easy to care for. We promote perennial food plants to grow at home because once established they produce abundantly year after year with little maintenance. We believe that growing some of our own food at home also contributes to a smart sustainable future by reducing energy used, pollution created and land used for food production. While also saving on food bills. Food gardening is also fun and creative!
We provide information and advice so that you receive the most appropriate cultivars for your needs and your property.

Jason Ross

I am dedicated to encouraging home food growing, using sustainable techniques. I enjoy the relationships gardening fosters with all living (and non living!) things; minerals, plants, fungi., bacteria, insects, animals and people, as well as its ability to produce quality food at our doorstep, using what we have previously considered to be problematic waste.
Education: Level 4 Advanced National Certificate in Landscape and Production Horticulture, a Certificate of Permaculture Design and a Bachelor of Fine Arts.
Director of Sutherland Nursery and Edible Garden Design.
Regular workshops on: Fruit growing, Pruning and Permaculture.
Also works with Waitati Stores growing vegetables, herbs and fruit for Taste Nature, Dunedin’s Organic Shop.
